The ways in which our society responds to such photos perpetuates rape culture. Both issues converge on the idea of consent. To the various men I follow on twitter and am friends with on Facebook I have to ask- do you not see how leaked sexual photos online mimic physical sexual assault in their dual lack of consent? These women did not pose in front of a camera and a team of professionals with her full knowledge that they would be displayed on the pages of Playboy. They did not agree that it would be okay for us all to see them. There was no consent given whatsoever. And so, every time we click on one of these photos we violate these women over and over again. In the same ways rape victims never gave their consent to their rapists. A violent act was committed against them- without consent.
